Barrel of Laughs ( Shouts )

Well I know you have all been waiting in anticipation for this but your wait is now over. I modelled this last week but I have now conquered the feat of learning normal and specular maps in Maya. Hope you like it.



All I have to do now is download that plug-in that Adam posted somewhere on Mike and Guys blog and export it ready for the UT3 editor. Whoooooooooooooo.

1st pass lighting


So nearly done texturing the terrain and I've done a 1st pass on the lighting, I still need to add some fill lights and think about how to add some dynamic lightsto make things more interesting. We can't use lightbulbs as its a derilict farm therefore no electricity, if we have it set out as if a battle has taken place then i guess a few fires could be burning and giving off light but we need to discuss this.

redo and redo again at some point it'll look right

Ok so spent most of today re doing the texture for the deisel tank, taking away alot of the dirt i had put on it and making a slight more subtle plus the new normal map seems to be working a hell of a lot better.

research on houses give me feedback

Ok guys let me know which houses you like the look of or grab me some images of houses you like. this is for the main building in the center of the farm.its gonna be delapidated in the map this is just to get a basic idea of what it would of looked like.

Combine Harvester

iam haveing trouble finding blue prints for a harvester, so if anyone can give me a hand and help me find some that would be cool ty, also left the tractor in college so ill pull out the old forklift model and detail it a bit more.

I Made A Barrel!

Well I know that this is not normally something to shout about, but I MADE A BARREL. Oh yes guys, using Maya and only a little shouting I have create a barrel. Has anyone seen the episode of Blackadder where Percy makes 'Green', not a great achievement but he was as proud as punch, like myself. Anyway here is a render, just so you can join in with my excitement.



Now all I need to do is work out how to texture it.

Rufus Detailing


Don't want to stick with one idea so i hope lot can expect a few more of these. I think i hit rock bottom with one though, the second apeals to me as the badass guy who looks like a complete phsyco. I took Dean's advice of making him large. I want him to be very tall, lanky guy with a really big build. But yes i had to go for the sicko face, he just loves killing for the fun guys! But i went for the glasses like kev said. Those small ones that give that old scientist look.

I thought of his clothing too, mix and match, military pants for the win with military belts across his chest holding some sort of tank on his back (maybe steam emitters or what not, you know the deal, make him look kick ass) it was to power his claw that idea!

Anyway hope you like these so far, just doodles took me about a hour odd to sketch these down out my head off the thumbnails i drew. I'll do a few more for you lot and show you in class.

Rufus Thumbnails





Well i'll add some of these up now because i'd like our group to just pick what they like best so far. Don't worry it's not just these ideas i'm trying to really get a good range of characters and clothing you know what i mean anyway. Well i'm planning to do another 2-3 sheets so i'll post them up tomorow when i have completed them. I think i deserve a small break for this haha.

Hope you guys like, so far i'm inclined to like the third guy in the napolean sort of jacket with the musket and claw robotic arm.

Ok so for everybody heres an asset list broken down into areas, now i know that some of this stuff has already been modelled by ste chris and bob, but grab the list and see whats there if you know somebody has completed an asset dont work on it if theres some you would like to build let us know and build away just so we dont get 5 people building a combine harvester.
