1st pass lighting


So nearly done texturing the terrain and I've done a 1st pass on the lighting, I still need to add some fill lights and think about how to add some dynamic lightsto make things more interesting. We can't use lightbulbs as its a derilict farm therefore no electricity, if we have it set out as if a battle has taken place then i guess a few fires could be burning and giving off light but we need to discuss this.

  1. As a suggestion I wouldn't totally exclude electricity from the level. You see abandoned environments in loads of games, but they use electricity. Fallout and Stalker are good examples of this. Part of what makes Stalker such a sexy looking game is un-natural lighting in an abandoned environment. Just a thought.

  3. What if they have set up free standing lights like a dig sight. They could be put anywhere you wanted then and one asset could be used and replicated?

  4. free standing lights with a generator was my initial idea, but then i thought that with it being a disused farm from the 70's and clawe wanting to keep his presence there a secret that there wouldn't be any clues as to him being there.

    but it might end up being that we have no other options but to have some powered light sources.even if its that the player has to fire up a generator.

  5. Ahh that makes more sense if he wanted to keep the place hidden. I like 2's free standing idea though. Maybe you could use moonlight or something?
